Hi I have a really nice serigraph of Shades that has a sis signature. It is also signed and dated April 22, 1982 in pencil but it is not numbered. So I'm a little confused as to what it is. Is it an artist proof? Is it something else? I would love if anyone could clarify this for me. Thanks!

I know Nagel signed and dated other sis serigraphs like Galerie Michael, so he likely did the same with Shades.  It's not an artist proof.  An artist proof would be designed A/P in pencil and would be signed and numbered.

This is generally referred to as a dedicated signature. A person might have purchased a S.I.S. (Signature in screen) print and Patrick would sign these on the date indicated at an art opening or event. This is not part of the numbered edition. I hope this helps.
